Learning and cognition is a broad discipline. For this Discipline-Based Literature Review, you will research at least four peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years to support your analysis of just one of the following topics. You may choose the area that is of most interest to you:
Operant and classical conditioning
Reciprocal determinism
The effects of modeling on learning
The cognitive revolution
The effects of self-efficacy on learning
In your analysis of your chosen topic, explain the theoretical perspectives and empirical research that are pertinent to the field of learning and cognition. This analysis should be developed robustly to support your success in completing the final project for this course.

This week, we will look at the last piece of the biopsychosocial model of understanding health. Last week, you wrote a reflection focusing on a psychological theory outlined in the article “Health Behavior: Psychosocial Theories.” This week, we will focus on the “social” aspect. Please provide a 300 word reflection about how you think social forces affect the behavior you have decided you would like to change. Your reflection should can include any social aspects you want to focus on, including, but not limited to family, friends, organizations/clubs (e.g., church groups, fraternities or sororities, campus groups), and work relationships.

This week, we applied the biopsychosocial model to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Cancer can be caused by a number of different biological, and even psychological and social factors, which is why this model is so helpful for accounting for cancer diagnosis, while simultaneously offering similarly dynamic treatments.
For this discussion, we will explore more deeply the effect of psychological and social factors on cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this module, you read several articles about the impact of these kinds of factors on cancer diagnosis and treatment. For your main post, please address the following questions:
What role do psychological and social factors play in the development of cancer? What appears to be the consensus in the medical community? Provide evidence from the articles to support your argument.

you will discuss a culture bound syndrome and compare it to a western/modern day diagnosis. In many cultures, there are mental illnesses that are unique to that culture, and thus are known as culture bound syndromes. Many of these syndromes share similar symptoms to western society’s mental illnesses.
Specifically, you are to:
Provide a detailed explanation of the syndrome: origin/history of it, characteristics and symptoms, any data or statistics that you can find on prevalence or incidence of the syndrome, what country/countries is this syndrome found, does it affect men or women, age it occurs, how it is treated or cured.

Week 6: The Concept of Coping
When you cannot avoid stress and trauma, alleviating the physical or emotional discomfort that is likely to result is an inherent characteristic of survival. Life presents a variety of challenging scenarios. Coping with debilitating illnesses, life-changing injuries, or the loss of loved ones can exceed an individual’s personal coping abilities. Drawing strength from those who care about you can make these difficult situations seem more tolerable. Just being able to share your fears and feelings, discuss possible solutions, or be reassured that the situation will improve contributes a great deal to the process of coping. Believing that the struggle is temporary and better times are ahead can reduce the stress and emotional discomfort life’s obstacles can cause. However, not everyone copes with the assistance of others. Consider how your social environment might influence your coping style and your ability to manage stress.
