In the Middle Ages, women had few rights under the law; they were legally dependent upon their fathers and husbands. Marriages were often arranged based on the economic advantages for a family, and entering a monastery was the only choice available to women who could not or did not wish to marry. The place of women in society and conceptions of ideal womanhood were dictated by the Church, which emphasized the authority of men over women (a particular interpretation of the writings of St. Paul), and which contrasted the conniving and sensual Eve against the Virgin Mary, a symbol of chastity and motherhood. Nevertheless, women did have a great deal of responsibility within their families and communities. While women had primarily domestic responsibilities, such as preparing food, caring for children, and tending livestock, rural women would join their husbands in the fields during busy times of the year, such as planting and harvest. Women living in towns would assist husbands and sons with metalwork, leatherwork, or running shops or inns. Many women participated in cottage industries, such as brewing, baking, or creating and selling textiles. Women of higher social classes would often exercise authority over an estate or region if their husbands or older sons were absent due to untimely death or war. The life of a monastic was an attractive alternative to some women, as it meant a life of contemplation, prayer, and communal work, free from the dangers of childbirth or an unhappy marriage.
Therefore, women living during the Middle Ages were more skilled and their lives more varied than we might assume. In this assignment, you will explore representations of women and women’s roles in two of the literary works read this week.
In your paper,
Develop an introduction with thesis statement that presents an argument about how women’s roles and status are represented in two literary texts from the late Middle Ages.
Analyze how each literary text depicts women and women’s roles and status.
Evaluate how the religious context of the Middle Ages influences depictions of women as they either affirm or defy established expectations and morality.
Determine whether the depictions of women are real and fair, or if they are filtered through the perspective of male writers and male-governed institutions.
Incorporate two scholarly sources into the discussion.

2.Find and preview/listen an existing resource that you would integrate in the lesson that you teach, or plan to teach, to enhance learning and address the objective, outcome, or standard.
3.Use the corresponding Selection Rubric from Smaldino et al. (2019) to assess the appropriateness of the selected resource and decide whether you recommend it or not for your classroom use.
4.Annotate and analyze the findings of your assessment and prepare an argument.
5.You can present your argument in writing or via a narrated presentation in video format. You will limit your analysis to two double-spaced pages of content for a written paper, or two minutes of presentation for a video format.
Include the following elements in your presentation:
1.Objective, learning outcome, or standard that is expected to be enhanced with the resource.
2.Type of classroom: online, hybrid, or on-site
3.Name of the resource/material and type (video, audio, visual/still image, text game/simulation, or Web 2.0)
4.Your decision: Do you recommend the resource for your classroom use?
5.Analysis of the rubric findings that supports your decision.
6.Pros and cons of using the selected media type for learning. Support your pros and cons with the literature (i.e., with Smaldino et al. or any other resource).
Criteria for Assignment 3:
If the presentation is within the page or time limit, Assignment 3 will be graded as follows:

Need to write a summary about “Sonny Blue’s” and the suffering that took place in the story.
Although your focus is on one element of the story, you will discuss various scenes from the story, various influences on those scenes. Choose from a focus below (or discuss an alternate focus with me) Your essay topic should focus on one of the topics below.
Suffering
“Sonny’s Blues” helps us to understand the various ways people experience pain and suffering. As a musician and artist, Sonny tries to make known the pain he sees around him. The narrator, on the other hand, denies his own pain and hardship, and that of those around him. But when he is finally forced to see it, he begins to understand Sonny as both an artist and as a recovering addict. What role does suffering play in the story?
Think about:
What is the narrator’s understanding of suffering? Does that change as the story progresses?
How does each brother take on the subject of suffering? Addiction?

Theory use in Literature
For this first foray in to using Literary Theory with a reading, I’d like you to craft a short, focused analysis of the play using one form of Literary Theory as a lens. Your response should be at least 500 words, and should present a focused, obvious thesis statement that makes it clear what type of theory you’re using and why that matters, use of quotes to support your analysis, and a coherent argument in your short response.
please read this for your response:
Trifles – Document – Gale Literature: LitFinder
Please note that, as mentioned, you can use almost any form of theory with almost any text, some work better than others, and some don’t work at all; Trifles certainly will have some that won’t work, and others that will work very well.
Please also see attached powerpoint, please choose a theory that is listed there, that works with what I AM ASKING OF YOU <3
