Learning Outcome Day 3

During he 3rd day I kept building knowledge in regards to teams and their productivity, and motivation. The most highlighted and enriching information I have learned is:

Team Productivity seem to decrease in bigger team due to what is called social loafing. Which is seen demotivating to some team members when they work in large teams as they think that their work is not viewed. Furthermore, such a situation can lead to a free riding to those members.

As a result of the above observation having a small teams is considered better for the members motivation, and their should be a clear performance review to better control the outcomes of both large and small teams.

Managers should know what motivates their team members which if achieved successfully can contribute to a positive productivity. Furthermore, some teams are considered prevention focused whom are motivated by the fear of losing something. Additionally, there are some who are considered promotion focused, whom are motivated by gaining something(reward) and they work quickly and need constantly positive feedback.

Decision making in teams, are generally considered better, however, it might be bias rather than individual decision which can lead to the demotivation of other team members. On the same note, there are many types of team decision making such as, group think which helps the exchange of ideas and reduces the concern of the image of team members.
