Compose a summary and response essay, between 2-3 pages in length, in which you clearly summarize Neil Gaiman’s “Why Our Future Depends on Libraries” and then respond to it by agreeing or disagreeing with the author’s ideas based on connections between the author’s claims and your own experiences. Please make sure to review your lecture on Writing a Summary and Response.
More Specifically, the paper should have four paragraphs:
Introduction: The introduction should introduce the readers to the ideas present in Gaiman’s article. It should also introduce the Gaiman’s article as the main text you are responding to). It should end with a thesis that states whether you agree with Gaiman and shows how the article relates to your experiences in with the subjects he covers so far.
Summary: Your summary of the article chosen formatted in Academic Summary format. (Remember to read my feedback when revising your summary for this essay.)
Response: Ideas and points you acceptdisagree with examples from your own experiences. This should be formatted in PIE paragraph structure.
In the Point (topic sentence), you should name one claim that you agree or disagree with Gaiman about.
The Information will include both an example from Gaiman’s text and of your personal experiences to show why you agree or disagree.
For the Explanation, you have both an explanation of the quote or paraphrase from Gaiman’s speech as well as and explanation that will explain to the reader how your experiences prove that the author is correct or wrong in his assertions.
Conclusion: Restates your thesis, summarizes your key points, and provides a final thought.
