Determine the placement of the Carboniferous-Permian boundary in the deep-water Usolka River section (figures 2.3 and 2.4) using stratigraphic occurrences of key conodont species. You must determine the stratigraphic length for all samples. Note that for each sample on page 21, two conodonts are listed. The first conodont is the first occurrence of that conodont, and the second conodont indicates the end of the occurrence of the first conodont and the beginning of the second conodont.
Determine the radiometric age of the Carboniferous-Permian boundary by integrating radiometric dates derived from ash beds (bentonites) with the conodont data derived from marine limestones.
