I think the quality of the data in this article is good. The author presented statistics from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) which is a reputable source that has been analyzing the progress in the education system since 1969.

The use of the data was effective since it provided supporting data for the main point – that lowering the standards for college requirements for students has negative consequences on the educational system.

According to the NAEP, colleges have seen a major decline in ACT testing scores. While some schools have lowered the standard to increase enrollment levels, the decision was met with a 7% increase in the number of students who did not meet college ready requirements in general education courses including Math, Science, English. Unfortunately, only 22% of students who took the ACT exams met the college readiness standards. Despite the increase in enrollments, the number of students who took the test also dropped, but this one by a whopping 30% . The tests that were created to ensure students are prepared for college are no longer effective since requirements have been lowered.

The article presents credible data and statistics to back up its claims with regards to how only a small percent of women are able to represent managerial positions across industries worldwide. And how it might take a whole generation to close the gender gap because of the effect of pandemic. It also provides facts with regards to different programs that women are enrolling in.

In my opinion, the data was effective in underscoring the main point as it helps in understanding the current situation of women representing at workplace and the kind of programs and initiatives that are in place in order to eliminate the gender gap.

The article offers numerous facts from various sources to show how certain program such as Bloomberg Women’s Buy-Side Network (BWBN), media training workshops and Women in Electronic Trading (WIET) community are helping to close the gender gap in the workplace. These programs provide a base where women can learn from a network of female executives, develop their professional knowledge, share career advice, and inspire the next generation of women. These programs also provide training and mentoring with global leaders.
