This week we’re going to practice the AWEs by completing a discussion forum focusing on music. Any kind of music you choose. The only stipulation is that you have to be clear and specific as to WHAT you chose and WHY you chose it.
INITIAL POST: Come up with 3-5 songs that represent your life (whether it is current life or whole life), then explain why you have chosen these songs. Nothing is off-limits, so really explore all possibilities (we write best about what we know). When writing this post, make sure you organize via the Rule of 3s:
Introduction: Spend your first 1-2 sentences clearly introducing your focus for this assignment.
Hook in your audience by being creative with how you introduce this information. Don’t just announce by saying, “For this assignment, I have decided to….”
Information: After you introduce the focus for this assignment, support the focus by listing your chosen songs and explaining why for each. You can provide this via a bulleted list or separate paragraphs, just be sure to:Directly present the artist and chosen song (properly denoted).
Specifically explain WHY you chose this song in 1-3 sentences. The reason can be the lyrics, the musicality, the associations you have with it, anything! Just make sure you clearly connect the song to your life. Don’t just say you like it because it sounds good, but give me serious reflection into why this is your theme song!
Conclusion: Spend your last 1-2 sentences reminding your classmates of the purpose of your post.Make sure and transition into these finishing ideas. I like “Therefore” and “Overall” for discussions, but use what works for your semi-formal academic writing style.
Make this exciting so your classmates feel satisfied after reading your post.
Other expectations:
The Initial Post must be 200 words minimum. However, you are more than welcome to exceed this limit.
You won’t be able to see anyone else’s post until you have written your own.
The subject for this post should be interesting. Entice your audience to read your post.
Include links to your songs so your classmates can enjoy them, too! Rod Wave, Ella Mai, Da Baby, Tasha Cobbs Leonard
