Eng 1302 DB1

Select ONE of the assigned stories and analyze setting in the story. How does the author use setting? In other words, how does the setting affect or support the story (keep in mind the focus should be on setting’s role in the story, not on how it provides a picture for the reader)? What aspects of setting –physical, geographical, historical — are important in the story you chose to write about? How so? Why? Be specific and provide examples for support from the story that you analyze. NOTE: This assignment is not asking you to simply identify the parts of the setting. It is asking you to analyze their effect on the story, how they shape changes in plot, how they contribute to mood, etc. Analysis is not the same as identification.
